Survey and Fire Risk Assessment
It is now compulsory for companies to conduct a Fire Risk Assessment
The Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1997 as amended in 1999 require almost all UK businesses to carry out a Fire Risk Assessment on their workplace. As an employer you are responsible for ensuring that you comply with the legislation.
Even if you have a fire certificate you will still need to conduct a Fire Risk Assessment as they relate to two different pieces of legislation.
Fenton UK can complete the Fire Risk Assessment in conjunction with your staff giving you a compliant working document.
Unless you’re a qualified expert it can be surprisingly hard to spot potential fire hazards. Our Fire Risk Assessment service will help protect you, you employees and your premises by giving you full visibility of the fire risks in your workplace.
Fire Detection
Whatever the complexity and size of the fire detection system, whether it is stand alone or networked, for small, large, single or multiple premises, Fenton UK has the necessary expertise to deliver a solution that is right for you.
When a fire alarm installation is required you are often faced with a wide range of decisions to make.
For example:
- Is compliance with British Standards necessary? If so, is it B.S.5839 Part 1 or Part 6? Is B.S.6266 or B.S. 7273 relevant?
- What category of system is required? M, P or L? Type 1, 2 or 3?
- What grade of system is required? A – F?
- Is the system to alert the fire brigade and if so by what method?
Fenton UK can work with you to assist with all of these questions and many others, as well as liaising with the local fire officer and insurers.
Emergency Lighting
Emergency lighting is a self-explanatory term. It is of course lighting for an emergency, whether it be caused by fire - when it is essential to quickly locate fire fighting equipment and identify exit routes from the premises, or when there is break in the normal lighting supplies leading to sudden darkness and the resultant hazard to human life, either through physical danger or panic.
Emergency lighting is normally required to operate fully automatically and give illumination of a sufficiently high level to enable persons of all ages to evacuate the premises safely.
Emergency Lighting is required for when the power supply to normal lighting fails and under BS 5266 is compulsory in the following locations with business premises:
- At stairs to illuminate each step
- Change of direction
- At each exit door
- Safety signs
- Each final exit point
- Fire alarm call point
- Intersections
- Change of floor level
- Fire fighting equipment / First Aid
Fenton UK install, service and maintain emergency lighting systems.
